Paying off credit card debt can be very rewarding.  Balance Transfer Credit Cards can help you pay down debt faster by offering you 0% interest rates over an introductory term.  That term may be 6 month or even up to 21 months.  The longer the term the better.  Which means the more debt you can pay off.  That's why we have looked into the Aspire World Rewards Credit Card.  We hope this article will help you to determine; Is the Aspire World Rewards Credit Card Balance Transfer Offer Good or Bad?

What Balance Transfer does Aspire World Rewards have to Offer?

Does the Aspire World Rewards Credit Card have a low APR Interest Rate after the Introductory Offer for Balance Transfers?

After the introductory interest rate of 0% for 6 months is up your interest rate will range from 11.65% – 18.00%, based on your creditworthiness.  Being able to get an interest rate within this range is far better than the average interest rates offered by most major credit card companies.  Being able to lock in these types of interest rates, Aspire Federal Credit Union states you will need a good to excellent credit score.  This would typically mean you have a credit score between 750 to 850.  Keep in mind these rates will vary base on the Prime Rate.

  • Balance Transfer Rate – 0% introductory APR for 6 months from date of account opening after that your variable APR for purchases will be 11.65% – 18.00% based on your creditworthiness.

Whether you are looking for a break from current interest rates with a 0% APR for only 6 months or up to 18 or 21 months, you will find our current offers here.

Are there any Fees that Apply to the Aspire FCU World Rewards Card?

Balance Transfers – $5.00 or 2% fee whichever is greater.  We have found the $5.00 minimum or 5% of balance transfer to be the typical.  The 2% fee they have is lower than the normal rates we see.  Although we wish they would offer no fees at least during the promotional offer.  But, no fees for balance transfers are hard to come by these days.

Late Fees – Up to $39 for late payment and up to $25 or returned payment.  There are other cards that never charge for late payments.  Check out the Citi Simplicity Balance Transfer MasterCard.

Penalties – There is no penalty APR.  From what we can tell you just pay the late fee payment.

Annual Fee – There is no annual fee.

Cash Advances – $10 or 2% whichever is greater.  APR for cash advances is 12.65% – 18.00% based on your creditworthiness and will vary based on the Prime Rate.

Foreign Transaction – 1% of each transaction in U.S. Dollars

Are there any perks to having the Aspire World Rewards MasterCard?

Aspire Federal Credit Union offers a rewards program for this card.  From our first impression, this rewards program does not seem to offer what other competitors offer.  They claim you can earn 25,000 Bonus Rewards Points after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months – includes balance transfers!  Aspire FCU  claims 25,000 points is equal to $250.  That seems to be a lot of money to spend to only get $250 back.  Plus your cash back comes in the form of points which can only be redeemed through their online store.  We tried to take a look to see what they offered in their online store but you have to be a member to see what they offer.

Bottom Line:  Is the Aspire World Rewards Credit Card Balance Transfer Offer Good or Bad?

If you only need 6 months 0% interest to pay off some debt and you have good to excellent credit, then this card is a decent option.  You will end up with a card that has good interest rates and lower fees.  But the rewards are not as good as other reward cards out there today.  Even though the balance transfer term is one of the shorter balance transfer terms we have seen, you do get very competitive Annual Percentage Rates.  Just make sure your credit score is somewhere between 750 and 850 before you apply.  In order to get these types of APR's and lower fees you typically have to give a little somewhere else.  Which is why they only offer a 6 month 0% Balance Transfer Term.  There are other cards out there with longer 0% balance transfer terms, see link at the end of this article.
